Up until today, I was never easily shaken by mundane household chores, but then came many many gifts of adorable baby clothes that needed washing.
I should just say in advance that while I know how to do laundry, I tend to keep things simple. There are the whites-- just plain white stuff which we use detergent and bleach on in warm or hot water, and the colored stuff (mostly dark because that's what we tend to wear) in cold water.
But then in come Maya's clothes with white backgrounds with dark prints, bright deep colored skirts sewed in to bright white shirts... panic.
After about 2 hours of unnecessary researching, advice seeking, and worrying, I took the metaphorical plunge. I separated things into 4 categories: colors, lights (whites with pastels), whites, and experimental.
First, I washed the experimental group in cold water and when I took it out... they were fine! So, if they made it through unscathed, this gives me the confidence I need to safely wash the rest without concern. Phew. Another barrier broken. Bring on the colors!

good call! Wash everything in cold water, it cuts costs. The only things I wash in hot water are towels and white whites like socks. Congrats on conquering the unknown!
LOL Thanks! It's ironic that given the jobs I've had in the past which quite often deal with literal life & death scenarios, baby laundry was the thing that finally scared me.
You know, I just wash all my colors in cold water, and all the whites (and by white, I mean ONLY white) in hot. It all tends to work out just fine for us.
Apparently I'm a laundry wizard because with how sloppy I am, I've found I can get out any stain (oil, ink, blood, you name it) So, I'm here for you if you ever need me :)
