Mental Image Abuse

That's it. I am calling for a full-scale extinction of the phrase "...that just made me throw up in my mouth a little."

Those of you who say it are OBVIOUSLY not visual people. If ever you've found yourself saying this phrase, consider yourself assured that you are neither visual nor empathic whatsoever or you would never be able to get it past your mouth, much like the hypothetical puke you so enjoy telling me about.

This is one of the most traumatic phrases to subject upon others. Even though I know you're saying it as a biting way of sharing that you're disgusted/nauseated/repulsed by whatever the topic is, the unfortunate receiver of that phrase gets a horribly graphic mental image to fend off.

If you've said this phrase to a visual person, trust me when I tell you that we hear nothing you say for the next minute.

We are spending our time fighting off the image, reliving that experience, mentally tasting the acidic bile, and hypothetically reattaching your head to your neck. (Since when do we talk about heads as a vomit receptacle for the neck anyway?)

Stop abusing your friends with this phrase. It was probably funny the first 50 times someone heard it but we're all well past that now. And let's face it, it's not cute.

And the fact that the words "a little" follow the bulk of the damage doesn't make it cuter. Look-- it's been attempted by beasts far more adorable than you.

Alright. That was a little cute.

Fine. Unless you are fuzzy and people put posters of you up on their walls for inspiration, NO MORE. Please. Pretty please.

Love,
A very visual person

LOL! I must not be a visual person, becauase I can honestly say I've never pictured someone actually vomiting in their mouth. You did shine a light, though. I admit I'll probably use it again. If someone did or say something to make me want to say that, then maybe a disgusting mental image is exactly what they deserve. I will, however, refrain from using it for you since you asked so nicely.

I did ask nicely, didn't I? :) Positive reinforcement!

Maybe I am being cocky, but I assume this was prompted by a response I posted a couple days ago?
I too am a very visual person, I used the phrase because it was literal. The description of the penis filled with pus was enough to ruin my meals for the rest of the day. Actually, even mentioning it now makes my stomach churn. However, I will try not to use it while responding to your posts... :)

Not prompted by-- it was prompted by too many people saying this too many times.

You were the one that reminded me while I fought off the imagery.

...even if it was in response to something awful I lobbed at ya.

Hey-- in a way, I guess I gotcha back!

That phrase doesn't bother me so much but I know how you feel. "Do me a solid" in either question or imperative statement form gets my gag reflex going and I throw up in my mouth a little. (Oops. Sorry.)

Bitch!

Now that I think of it, "do me a solid" is just as repulsive. Excellent point.
